Well, small really as it's 28mm.
I thought a little blog post of some of the previous Japanese based projects I've done over the years would be a good thing whilst I'm finishing off the painting guide (and it's good practise to post here more often lol).
Here's a quick link to the Japanese section of the OSHIRO webshop with plenty of products in various scales to help populate your own tables.
I've made several game boards for the Salute show to demo my products over the years and up to now the one I'm most pleased with is the castle town with the tenshu. Slight admission to make, the tenshu isn't actually finished as I intended to do a detailed interior but time was against me.
The vast majority of the buildings, bits and bobs are available from the catalogue with a few that were scratchbuilt. The boats were also from the catalogue but are now sadly unavailable.
As mentioned, the tenshu was a full scratchbuild with many elements of it being drawn and cut on the laser first.
Unfortunately, a game wasn't actually played on the day (something which will change in the future).
I will finish off the interior in the future and maybe even host a game on it at a show.
Below are a few table fillers that were either commissions or built for myself. Figures are generally alway Perrys as they're my favourite range (at the moment). My groundwork technique has changed and improved over the years with the mountainside graveyard, standard graveyard and pond being earlier works. Trees are sourced from various manufacturers which are generally online railway stores.
This has been the most popular commission I've made, I'm currently working on the ninth version.
Wonderful photos. I would love to see a photo AAR - would be awesome to see a game played on the town table.
Beautiful terrain. Hoping to make it over for Salute to see one of your grand table displays in the next couple of years but I may have to wait until retirement. Would love to see any modern Japanese buildings you've made in the blog.
